Chesapeake CityChesapeake City, Maryland is a picturesque small town  located on the C&D Canal, which connects the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays.  The town is located along Route 213 and is split north to south by the C&D Canal.  This historic canal opened in 1829 and has provided important access to the Chesapeake Bay since.  Ocean-going ships and tugs pulling barges can be seen passing through the center of town.

The southern portion of the town features the restored 19th century town, which has been declared a historic district.  The district includes restored homes, antique and gift shops, and several restaurants and B&Bs.    Traveler reviews of Chesapeake City B&Bs and restaurants

C&D Canal Museum

A visit to the C&D Canal Museum gives you a history of the canal, which joins the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays.

For a view from the water, try a narrated cruise on a Chesapeake Bay deadrise with Miss Clare Tours, departing from the dock on the south side of town.  Chesapeake City has contracted with the Miss Clare to provide free ferry service at selected times and dates from mid April to mid October. See ferry service dates and times.

Horizon Photography Workshops offers weekend classes for all levels of photographers on subjects such as photography basics, location lighting, nature photography, and techniques for photographing food and people.
